Company History

  Ernie Dill founded Mountaineer Supply in 1965 while working in the security department for Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood, WV. The company originally focused on the sale and service of fire extinguishers. He later expanded into restaurant fire suppression systems.

  In 1967 Ernie, along with several community leaders started Silverton VFD. He was elected as the first chief and filled that roll for the first few years. It was as Fire Chief that he directed his business sites towards fire department equipment. Some of the companies that Mountaineer Supply represented in those early years were FMC Fire Apparatus, MSA, Akron Brass and Hale Fire Pump Co. 

  The company had realized steady growth when in 1973 became the distributor for a revolutionary rescue tool, "The Jaws of Life". The very first few tools were sold to Silverton, Marmet and Martinsburg, WV Fire Departments. 

  Steven Dill, Ernie's son started full time in early 1974 and serves as the companies President today. As the company increased their product line, the territory expanded to include all of WV, Southeast Ohio, Kentucky and Western, Central Pennsylvania. The name was changed to Dill's Fire & Safety Equipment Co., Inc. and currently has twelve full time employees and five commissioned salesmen. 

  From that early start, the company has always focused on serving the needs of the customer. There are a lot of companies out there who claim to have service and very few that follow through like Dills' Fire & Safety does.

  We are looking forward to continuing to meet the needs of our customers and in furnishing them with the finest products available to this industry. We also will continue to back them up with SERVICE THAT IS SECOND TO NONE!
